![]() Normally XP will only address up to 2GB memory for applications and 2Gb for the kernel. This tool will automatically set the header in the RailRoads.exe so that it can address more than 2GB memory. This will enable RailRoads to use over 2GB of memory in the application space. It uses conventional tools using a batch file so everyone can see nothing suspicious goes on. This is for intermediate to advanced Windows users.įollow the instructions carefully…the risk is minimal, as long as you backup your RailRoads.exe. ****** VERY IMPORTANT: IF YOU ARE USING AN 圆4 OPERATING SYSTEM: SKIP THE “DIRECTIONS” SECTION. Download the files from the bottom of this post and make sure you read the Readme I have copy pasted here:Įdit: If you are running the 32bit versions of Windows Vista or 7 you must skip the “Directions” section and instead follow this post to make 3GB enabler work under Vista & 7 due to the lack of boot.ini. I have edited the files so that they work with RailRoads.exe. It is called the 3GB enabler and was originally made for another game that suffered from this bug, Stalker. When this happens it is likely because the game ran out of memory and when it went to go do that one more thing it found that it couldn’t, so it crashes. Glad to help.Sometimes Sid Meier’s Railroads simply crashes for no fault of the player or the map maker. I've now updated the guide to point this out in the "Other issues" section. ![]() I've mentioned custom maps being a problem before, but didn't think to include it in the guide. The other location the game crashes while starting. One location the game starts as does the scenario with the custom map. Sadly, both locations (not at same time) cause crashes. fpk files either go in CustomAssets or UserAssets. Originally posted by Nulano:LAA fix works for any 64-bit Windows: So I’ll have to go back to that site and see if there is something about it. I did what he suggested, tried both locations and still crashed. The issue with the custom map is in the readme file the guy says that you may need to put the files in directory A instead of the recommended directory B cause testers of his maps said they experienced crashes. After removing said map from the directories, I started the game using a vanilla map and played for three hours without any issues. Ok so after further investigation, it was a custom map I had installed that was causing the crashes. Any known fixes or workarounds for Win 10 users? LAA fix works for any 64-bit Windows: I see fixes and workarounds for Win Vista, 7, 8 and even XP. "Games Explorer" Product Version 6.17601.18020 on about a 20 second interval I see a gameux.dll active in here typically UX is User Experience jargon. Why does Railroads.Exe spawn a sub-task called Rundll32.exe that goes out to Microsoft? It is a fact that I can execute as Administrator (THANKS wizardtac) but it sure seems like there is no reason to stream back to Redmond WA (on IP 40.113.76.66) when launching from Steam. ![]() Originally posted by mikecarrick:I have the same issue (Win-7) in the last two days.
